Preserve & Protect Your Neighborhood - SAVECDA.org

Thank You for visiting our website.  The East Mullan Historic District is an area of older historic homes which incorporates an area from 8th Street to 15th, Mountain to Lakeside.  The boundaries are loose, as some members reside just outside this area.  Our main focus is to preserve and protect our neighborhood and to help inform other residents whose neighborhoods are facing increasing pressure from growth and development.

Much of what is happening is due to the rise in real-estate prices in our area, home and property values have doubled or tripled over the last few years and this leads developers to build larger structures to capitalize on their investments.

No one is staying homebuyers shouldn't be able to alter or expand their homes or replace an existing structure to fit their needs, just as no one is saying that older neighborhoods should be frozen in time.

A neighborhood is a living thing, and change is both inevitable and desirable.  The challenge is to manage change and new construction so that it respects the character of the neighborhood.

Zoning laws were first created to protect owner's rights and property values against the potentially harmful actions of others.  Rights are - and have always been - tempered with responsibilities.

It is important that all residents are informed in an understandable and timely manner of any and all applications and requests for zoning changes that affect them.  Our residential zoning was changed without the residents knowledge or input - we don't want to see this happen to another neighborhood.

New members are always welcome.  At this time we have no dues; our few expenses are covered by member donations.
